sotto voce blues, a new series comprising intimate words dispatched onto Maria Amidu’s handmade then hand-dyed abaca fibre paper. The words delicately negotiate the interference of a vertical fault line running down the centre of each singular work. Sometimes certain, sometimes not, these interior monologues grapple with the vulnerabilities triggered by questions of status, exclusion and supremacism.
