sotto voce blues is a new series of work by Maria Amidu comprising intimate words transferred onto her handmade, indigo dyed paper. Her writing delicately negotiates the interference of a vertical fault line running down the centre of each painstakingly crafted singular work. Sometimes certain, sometimes not, these lyrical dispatches grapple with what reverberates in the wake of social exclusion.
